About Heather Kelly
Thanks for your interest in my piano studio! I am a pianist and teacher in State College, Pennsylvania. I have a passion for piano pedagogy and I enjoy collaborating with musicians through accompanying and ensemble playing. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Music from the University of Northern Iowa, where I studied with professor Sean Botkin. Since joining the musical community of State College, I have brought my vision to share the love of music with my students.
Beginning piano lessons as a child allowed me to find a life-long interest in music. I grew up in Iowa where I competed in local artist competitions, began a piano studio, and performed as an active church musician, which I have now been doing for over ten years. In 2011, I became a co-winner of the Marilynn Minford McCoid Young Artist Competition. The following year during the 2012 winter concert series, I had the privilege of soloing with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Robert McConnell.
Currently, I am in my seventh year of teaching private lessons, and every year has been a joy. I value networking with other music teachers, so I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association as well as the Central Pennsylvania Music Teacher's Association. I also plan to continue my studies of piano pedagogy at the graduate level. Because I believe there is intrinsic value in musical investment, I desire to help others experience the incredible enrichment to life that the piano brings. Most of all, I enjoy connecting with individuals who want to continue in their own musical interest.
About Kelly Piano Studio
Kelly Piano Studio exists to realize potential and spark musical interest in piano students young and old. Students come to Kelly Piano Studio as children beginning music lessons for the first time, or as adults fulfilling a life-long desire to play beautiful music at the piano.
At Kelly Piano Studio, students are taught not only to play the piano; they are taught how to practice effectively and perform enthusiastically. I help students plan engaging practice routines as they learn piano repertoire and music fundamentals.
In studio recitals, I help students experience the joy of performing the music they love. Students receive weekly lessons in my home studio located on Stratford Drive in State College, Pennsylvania.
